Micro Credit Loan Project
Micro credit is the extension of very small loans to those seeking alternatives to their income products (or lack of any) designed to spur entrepreneurship. These individuals lack collateral, steady employment a verifiable credit history and therefore cannot meet even the most minimal qualifications to gain access to traditional credit.
In 2004, the African American Women's Resource Center applied for a grant to start a microcredit loan program for women in DC. We were unsuccessful in winning the award because our research was not strong enough to describe how it can work for women who can benefit from this project.
On December 12, 2009 a group of women convened to discuss the potential of starting a project. Since then the number of women interested in being a part of this endeavor has grown. The enthusiasm is magnetic.
Join us as we grow in number, understanding and manifestation. Go to the next meeting update web page or call us for more information. Hope to see you, and a friend, at the next meeting.
