An Idea for a Writer’s Retreat

A group of women are considering running a writer’s/artist’s house in the southwestern part of Virginia.  They envision it as a place where writers and artist can spend time alone or with one or two other people can get away to hone their craft.  The cost would be total of $150 for a weekend (Friday night to Sunday afternoon).

The idea of the house is to provide safe, comfortable surroundings with no distractions from the outside to enable the artist to concentrate on their work.  Whether it be the book that never got started, or the book that just cannot get finished, the House would offer a place to get it done.

The House would have:

No Phone

No TV

No Radio

No Internet Hook-up

The House would have:

Heat, Air Condition

Comfortable Furniture

Safety of a caretaker on the property

Emergency provisions

The area offers:

Scenic country view

Clean Air

Beautiful stars at nite

Ponds

Creeks

Easy Living

A “downtown” for groceries and other items

The small house is situated on a 100 acre farm located 4.5 hours from Washington, 2 hours from Richmond, VA.  If you know of anyone that might be interested in taking advantage of the get-away, please have them direct their questions to:  thehouse@aawrc.org.
